Die Chinesische Mauer translates from German to The Chinese Wall
(known as The Great Wall of China
in English). It was the third and last solo album released by Michael Cretu before starting his Engima project, unless you count the English version of the album which has some differences. Like on the preceding album Legionäre, Michael Cretu lends his voice to the German lyrics. Die Chinesische Mauer contains the track Samurai which was well-received in many countries, and the album was released in the same year he produced a successful breakthrough album for Sandra.
Stylistically it's (obviously) more reminiscent of Cretu's previous solo album outings than any of the Enigma releases, though there are certainly some moments with a Cretu feel
that was also carried over into the Enigma project.
